Our label production has been thoroughly tested, from the materials used and the transparency of production processes, up to employee hygiene requirements and extreme operating cleanliness. You too can benefit from our expertise gained from working with major global players in the food segment!
Given the wide range of labels for various foods types, there are many different materials from which
are made. In addition to label paper, substrates also include adhesive labels made of PP film (polypropylene) and PE film (polyethylene). While adhesive labels made of PP film are particularly suitable for rigid packaging such as ketchup or mustard bottles due to their high stiffness, labels made of PE plastic adapt flexibly to the respective food packaging due to their high elasticity. PE film is also used for shrink film packaging.
High quality food products are often labelled with high quality design elements or special papers,
The adhesive is particularly important for labelling bakery products and frozen products, as only a well adhering adhesive can guarantee the adhesion of the labels under different climatic conditions. labelprint24 manufactures HACCP food labels from paper and film, with various finishes and the adhesion properties you require.Â
The most important taself-adhesive of a
food label is to communicate product information to the consumer and to make additional information about production and origin transparent and comprehensible for the consumer, partly by means of seals. Food labels must fulfil multiple taself-adhesives, depending on the type of food. The most important taself-adhesive of food labels is to give the product a unique name. This is the only way for the consumer to distinguish among individual brands and products. Due to the large number of similar foods on supermarket shelves (for example, there are several hundred types of yogurt in Germany), a particular foodstuff must be readily recognisable.
Labelling requirements for food labels
Another important taself-adhesive of food labels is to provide the consumer with detailed product information as required by law. What information must be provided, and how it is to be transmitted to the consumer, is governed by the Food Information Regulation (LMIV). The LMIV will be mandatory in all EU member states from 13 December 2014 and will replace the Food Labelling Ordinance (LMKV), which only covered Germany.
Mandatory particulars on a food label
Food labels are used in every area of food production and food labelling. The information that food labels must therefore contain includes salt and fat content, the best-before date, nutrition labelling, allergen labelling, information on additives or origin labelling. Not to forget, of course, the price of the goods, which in the case of thermal labels is only printed shortly before purchase by means of the thermal printer of a scale as a number and barcode for the scanner cash register. Depending on whether the product is organic food, frozen food or baked goods, food labels must contain product-specific information. For frozen foods, the consumer should know when the product was frozen and whether it can be frozen again after thawing. This information would be meaningless for confectionery, wine or cheese. The most important thing here is a representative, sales-promoting design of the food labels and other packaging.Â
Food labels are becoming increasingly interactive
Even the food labels of fish and seafood have unique information. The consumer wants to know exactly where and by what methods the fish was caught (wild or farmed). With the help of barcode labels or QR code labels and a smartphone, such information can be scanned and reproduced on a card at home. An additional MSC seal applied to the packaging as a label is a purchasing aid for all consumers for whom sustainability in fishing is important. Many supermarkets and discounters therefore now offer appropriately labelled fishery products.
There are a variety of different food labels: Wine labels, beer labels, cheese labels, organic labels, can labels, confectionery labels, fish labels, natural cosmetics labels, fruit and vegetable labels... but they all have one thing in common: they are printed at labelprint24 in accordance with the respective legal requirements!
